Welcome to Helium’s Creative Writing Contest.

As many poets, fiction and other creative writers will tell you, the life of a writer is not the easiest path to becoming a millionaire. But Helium would like to help our creative writers a little. The Creative Writing Contest will put some change in your pocket and even help you earn the coveted Creative Writing badge by boosting your rankings as you win.

How the Creative Writing Contest works:

• One monthly contest of 20 titles.
• Prizes for each contest are $25 for first place; $15 for second; and $10 for third.
• Submission dates: Wednesday, November 4, at 16:00 GMT to Tuesday, November 17 at 23:59 GMT. (Get your current GMT time: Type “current time gmt” into a Google search.)
• Awaiting calculation dates: Wednesday, November 18, to Wednesday, December 1. (Two weeks for creative writing article rating to reach community consensus. All titles in the contest are closed to further submissions and Leapfrogs during this time. Your article’s rank may fluctuate wildly or hardly move.)
• Winners: Winners will be announced Wednesday, December 2. Read more about winner selection and contest points on the Contest Rules page.
• Completed contest: Once the contest is closed and the results announced, the titles to that contest will reopen for general writing submissions.

What we’re looking for in November’s Thanksgiving Contest:

The titles in this contest require writing in many different genres. Please refer to the Creative Writing submission guidelines in Help. (Any submission that does not fit the correct format guidelines for a title may be deleted from the contest. Offensive material, tasteless humor, inappropriate language and plagiarized material will not be accepted and your submission will be deleted.)
